The Summer I Fell in Love with Coconut Water Americanos
Hey friend,
You know that moment when summer finally shows up? The windows are down, the sun is high, and suddenly your usual hot latte feels… heavy.
That was me last week, standing in my kitchen with a hot espresso shot in hand and zero desire to sip it. And then, like some caffeinated lightning bolt, I remembered a trick a friend once shared during a beach trip in Palawan:
“Reya, pour your espresso over coconut water. Trust me.”
And oh wow… I did. And now I can’t stop.
🥥 What Is a Coconut Water Americano?
In short? It’s your summer coffee soulmate.
It starts with a bold shot of espresso (or two if you need that extra kick).
Instead of water like in a regular Americano, you top it with chilled coconut water.
Add ice. Maybe a wedge of lime or a sprig of mint if you’re feeling fancy.
Sip. Swoon. Repeat.
💡 Why It Works (And Why It’s So Good)
Coconut water is naturally sweet and super hydrating, it’s packed with electrolytes like potassium and magnesium. When paired with espresso, it softens the bitterness and adds this subtly nutty, tropical note that makes you feel like you’re on a hammock somewhere.
It’s like a vacation in a glass.
But with caffeine. And zero effort.
☕ My Go-To Brew for This:
You have to try this with Win Win’s Colombia. The medium roast has these caramel and cocoa undertones that just melt into the coconut water, it’s wild how well they play together.
🌞 Reya’s Coconut Water Americano Recipe:
1–2 shots Win Win Colombia espresso (or cold brew concentrate if you don’t have an espresso machine)
¾ cup chilled unsweetened coconut water
Ice
Optional: lime wedge or mint for garnish
Directions:
Fill your glass with ice.
Pour in the coconut water.
Top with the espresso.
Watch the colors swirl (this part is weirdly satisfying).
Garnish if you’re feeling extra.
Sip and enjoy your new summer obsession.
💬 A Little Story from the Win Win Fam
One of our regulars, Janelle, messaged last week after trying this:
“I brought Coconut Water Americanos to our Sunday brunch and now my cousin thinks I’m a barista. Everyone was blown away, it tastes like something from a fancy café, but it’s so easy!”
That’s what I love about coffee. It brings us together in the simplest, most delicious ways.
Whether you're lounging poolside, road-tripping with the windows down, or just needing something bright to start your workday, trust me on this one. Coconut Water Americanos are the coffee drink of the summer.
Try it and tell your tastebuds I said "you’re welcome." 😉
